HOW IT WORKS
Three steps, then back to work.

Capture the detail
Click New Snip — it sits leftmost in the editor — or pick a Delay of 3s, 5s or 10s first. Then drag to select an area, or choose Full screen for that display.

Make your point
Add an arrow, text, a numbered marker or a redaction. Marks stay adjustable while you work, with Undo and Redo in the current session.

Copy the edited image
A new capture is copied to the clipboard and saved as a PNG right away. Edits update the saved PNG automatically; click Copy image to copy the edited version, then paste it.
Snip prepares your screenshot. Your AI chat handles the conversation. Snip does not connect to an AI service, send prompts or change your code.

SCREEN RECORDING
When a screenshot isn’t enough.
Some bugs only make sense in motion, and some walkthroughs need your voice. Choose Record, capture what happened as a local MP4 with the audio you want, and share the file yourself.
Choose your area
Record a region you drag out, or the full screen of one display. Set a delay of 3, 5 or 10 seconds to get the screen ready first.
Add the audio you need
System audio and microphone are separate toggles, so you can narrate, capture app sound, both or neither. Pick your microphone input before you start.
Pause, resume, finish
Watch the elapsed time while you work, pause and resume when something interrupts you, then stop when the point is made.
Preview and share an MP4
One MP4 is saved on your Mac and opens in Recording Preview: play it back, Save As, Show in Finder, or Copy File to attach it where files are accepted.
Recorded and saved on your Mac. Snip’s controls stay out of the frame. Microphone access is requested only when you enable it and start recording.

FAQ
Straight answers.
- Which macOS versions does Snip support?
- Snip 1.4 requires macOS 15 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, with an English interface. Snip 1.3.2 is the older macOS 14-compatible version.
- Is my new screenshot already on the clipboard?
- Yes. A new capture is copied to the clipboard and saved as a PNG, so it is immediately ready to paste. Edits update the saved PNG automatically, but the clipboard still holds the original — click Copy image to copy the edited version. Cancelling a capture, or opening or pasting an image, leaves your clipboard untouched.
- What does screen recording include?
- Region or full screen on one display, optional system audio and microphone, a delay, elapsed time with Pause/Resume, and one local MP4 that opens in Recording Preview. There is no webcam, video trimming, video annotations, captions, live streaming or cloud hosting.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Snip has no account system and no sign-in.
- Are my images or recordings uploaded anywhere?
- No. Capturing, annotating, Studio styling, Extract Text and recording all happen on your Mac. Files stay local until you share them yourself.
- Can I edit a saved screenshot's marks later?
- Saved PNGs are flattened. Separate marks and undo history exist only in the current editing session, so reopening a PNG does not restore editable annotations.
- Is Snip a subscription?
- No. The intended price is a single US$3 purchase, not a recurring one.
